I went looking for Padden Creek
went looking for its mystery
went listening for it to speak
found it has a secret history.
I learned some maps are wrong:
in places I couldn’t hear its song.
For a stretch the creek’s underground,
buried, but always homeward bound.

NaPoWriMo 2014 ~ Day 17
This is my second attempt at a rispetto; my first attempt is buried and languishing in my notes.
According to Robert Lee Brewer, the rispetto is an old Italian poetic form in eight lines with a rhyme scheme a/b/a/b/c/c/d/d.
Thanks to my friend and mentor Judy T. for the September 2013 issue of Writer’s Digest which contains a print version of Brewer’s blog post on the rispetto.
