I am delighted to report that I have new work published in the current issue of Clover, A Literary Rag! Volume 6 ~ Winter 2013 has just been released.
Clover, A Literary Rag features work by Jennifer Bullis, Jim Milstead, Tim McNulty, Luther Allen, J.I. Kleinberg, Larry Crist, Janet Oakley, Mary Gillilan, Norman Green, and Carey Taylor including many, many others. Quite a lot of talent!
Thank you very much to Editor-in-Chief Mary Gillilan and Co-Editor Norman Green for including my work.
One of my favorite poems, “Termite Palace,” is included (on page 102):
Termite Palace
In Honolulu, the Islanders played
in an old wooden stadium nicknamed
The Termite Palace, because termites
holding termite hands held it together.
Mom didn’t care for baseball,
but we went one day. I leaped seats
toward a ball hit our way. It richocheted
off a bleacher seat, well over my head.
Other boys laughed at me, at how
I thoroughly misjudged the ball.
Their derision stung. We went
to the next day’s game, too. A revelation:
Mom’s love despite the hazards of life
with me, how she always rooted for me,
how termites held the stadium together
for a game and then a second game.
