Raze blocks & hurdles,
& write & defeat wrongs.
Write your truth, write
to unbury & expose & defeat fear.
Raise the stakes,
because you write for yourself,
you write for those you love,
you write out of love,
you write for the world
& for the world to come.
Don’t be risk averse;
risk everything, carefully:
there’s so much at stake
& there’s so much work to do.
~ Andrew Shattuck McBride, July 28, 2013
This is my first postcard poem for the 2013 Postcard Poetry Project.
On a postcard with view of Bellingham and Mount Baker from the sea. It’s an older postcard, because the GP Site looks very busy in the foreground. If I remember correctly, GP closed the mill site in 2006 or so, and transferred ownership to the City of Bellingham in 2007.
This poem is for my dear friends Jennifer B., Mark, & John.
