The Quotidian, December 14, 2010 ~ Calmness and Compassion

“Remember that calmness and compassion are an important part of living a fruitful, positive human life.” ~ Dalai Lama (born July 6, 1935)

Tenzin Gyatso, His Holines the 14th Dalai Lama, is an influential Tibetan Buddhist leader and proponent of Tibetan autonomy from China. In recent years he has moderated his stance toward Tibetan independence. Additionally, he is an author, public speaker, educator, and Nobel Peace laureate.

According to Wikipedia, “on December 10, 1989 the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize The [Prize] committee recognized his efforts in ‘the struggle of the liberation of Tibet and the efforts for a peaceful resolution instead of using violence.’ ”

When I see pictures of Tenzin Gyatso, I always smile because he is such a kind, compassionate, evolved and joy-filled person. Blessings to Tenzin Gyatso and the people of Tibet.
