In the Kitchen (sample)

in the kitchen / Brutus hopes to im-press Olive Oyl / while Popeye fumes / and opens another / can of spinach

This was my first attempt at writing a tanka with the word “olive” in it. Using “olive” was a writing prompt from the leader of a haiku and Japanese-style short form poetry group I belong to. However, the above doesn’t qualify as a tanka.

My silly or funny poems (doggerel, at times?) are morale boosters for me. I enjoy wordplay and laughing.
