The Quotidian, July 14, 2010 ~ Energies of Love

“Someday, after we have mastered the winds,… the waves, the tide and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love. Then, for the second time in the history of the world, [we] will have discovered fire.”
– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

This is one of my most favorite quotes.

We are reading and hearing about the energy challenges facing us nearly constantly now, with global warming, green initiatives, and the massive oil spill in the Gulf. When will we begin to look at energy challenges facing us as a species and as caretaker of our home, our earth? Personally, I am weary of hearing about energy challenges solely in a national context. It is clearly time to think about the challenges facing us in a global context.

This quote is about transformation. When we bring love to how we think about things, issues,  and people, it reframes and changes everything. It changes the questions we ask and the answers we find. When we bring love to what we do, we are working on a transformational level. We can accomplish much more – and for everyone, for all creatures, and for the planet and home we share.
